Relevance

Students can customize their learning experience by taking advantage of unique opportunities to explore advanced study through expanded AP course offerings such as:

• AP World History in Grade 9
• AP Human Geography
• AP Microeconomics
• AP Macroeconomics
• Global and International Studies

Simulations

Students will have the opportunity to engage in learning that mirrors authentic, real-world situations through substantive, globally-focused simulations such as Model United Nations. These experiences provide an opportunity for students to develop complex analytic and problem-solving skills directly applicable to their life-long education and careers.

Service

The community service and service-learning opportunities GIS students participate in will prepare them to be active global citizens by engaging directly with their local, national, and international communities.

Service learning is a type of experiential education in which young people work in the community on real projects that also builds academic skills.

GIS students will take part in local community service projects that have global implications. The outcomes include giving students real-world experiences, a sense of civic responsibility, and a love of lifelong learning and volunteerism.
