SMCPS Judy Centers

Did you know the Judy Center is a partnership, not a place!

Sometimes people think the Judy Center is the three-year-olds classrooms at Green Holly Elementary and George Washington Carver Elementary School. Although these classrooms are an important component of the program, the Judy Center itself is not a single place. The word “center” reminds people of a place, but the Judy Center is actually a network of agencies that have agreed to work together toward a common goal. That goal is to prepare young children in need of services in the Lexington Park area so that they are successful in school when they get to kindergarten. In St. Mary’s County, the Judy Center service area is in the attendance zones of Green Holly Elementary, Lexington Park Elementary, George Washington Carver Elementary, and the San Souci community. Our community program and agency partners include:

  • Child Care Program at Green Holly Elementary
  • Summer Camp for At-Risk Young Children at Green Holly Elementary
  • Lexington Park Centers
  • Patuxent Woods Centers
  • Hunting Creek Centers
  • Healthy Families
 Family Services:
Health Department and Other Health Services:
  • Behavior Specialist Consultations
  • Training for Child Care Providers and Teachers
  • Materials and Child Care Locators
Local Management Board:
  • Link to New Services and Outside Agencies
  • Training for Early Childhood Teachers and Child Care Providers
  • Training for Early Childhood Teachers and Child Care Providers

The Judy Center is all these organizations and more collaborating to prepare our young children for school success!
