Paraeducator Coursework

Paraeducators are provided an online resource for professional development The ParaEducator Online Learning Network offers online sessions. The ProVenance system is an Internet-based content delivery system. The system provides relevant information to help you learn the various facets of the supportive role you perform in the classroom and our school. This system also maintains a personalized transcript to help you and your supervisor track the courses you have successfully completed.

How can I earn CEUs through the ParaEducator Online Learning Network?

St. Mary's County Public Schools has contracted with ParaEducator.Net to provide online learning opportunities for our support staff. To take advantage of these opportunities and to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), follow the procedures below.

How to use the ParaEducator Online Learning Network: 

Instructions: The purpose of this document is to provide instructions for how to access The Paraeducator Learning Network within the ProVenance delivery system. If you have any questions about this information, please contact Deb Faller, dsfaller@smcps.org or 301-475-5511, ext. 148.

 Step 1 – Visit the Internet:

To access The Paraeducator Learning Network powered by ProVenance, you must always log on to the Internet and open the site www.provenancesolutions.com/provenance/mdsmcps
 
If you already have an account in The ParaEducator Learning Network, you will use your email address and current password to login.
Step 2 – Acquiring a seat:
 
Click on the My Subscription tab in the top menu bar. Then click the My Available Subscriptions link. Next to Subscription Type select Learning Network. Select The ParaEducator Learning Networkand click the Register button. You have now taken a license to The ParaEducator Learning Network and can now access coursework. If you get a message that there are no seats available, continue to Step 3. If you do not have The ParaEducator Learning Network listed under "My Assigned Content," contact Deb Faller, dsfaller@smcps.org or 301-475-5511, ext. 148.
Step 3 – Accessing Courses:
 
Click on the My Subscription tab in the top menu bar. Then click the My Assigned Contentlink. Next to Subscription Type select Learning Network. Next to Learning Network select The ParaEducator Learning Network. Select View Courses and the courses will appear at the bottom of the screen in 3 categories—not started, started, and completed. Your administrator will determine which courses you have access to in The ParaEducator Learning Network. If you are looking for a course and it’s not listed in one of the three categories, contact Deb Faller, dsfaller@smcps.org or 301-475-5511, ext. 148.
 
To Print a Course Certificate:
 
1.     After logging on, choose My Subscriptions (the middle tab).
2.     Then choose My Transcripts (the third hyperlink)
3.     Click on View under Certificate.
4.   It will prompt you to print.
5.  Review that the information is correct.
6.  Click ‘OK.’

Keep a copy of each Certificate of Course Completion.
